A customer had a change in a
sub-assembly component for a product with delicate
parts. Their supplier needed a way to assemble part of
this product in their plant and retain it precisely
while it went down their assembly line. They needed it
to arrive for final assembly in perfect condition.
The solution:
MATCON developed a custom thermo-formed tray that held
this hvac unit in place in the same orientation and
also served as a shipping pallet.
The customized thermo-formed tray was:
designed using a corregated
plastic sleeve to contain it in a box
stackable; a mirror-image tray
on top with stacking feet that interlock
efficient; doubled as both an
assembly tray and a shipping pallet
effective; allowed outsourced
sub-assembly while maintaining product quality
